Our Mission:
To improve the quality of life for Traill County children, families, and individuals through services and resources prescribed by public policies and programming.

Overview:
Traill County Social Services is a department of Traill County government designated by law to provide human service programming to a diverse population of Traill County citizens.  Programming/services offered by this county agency are administered in conjunction with state and federal agencies, particularly the North Dakota Department of Human Services.  There are four core program areas which include:

  • Aging Services
  • Children and Family Services
  • Economic Assistance
  • Administration

    Governess Structure:
Traill County Social Services has a tiered administrative structure.  The County Director is responsible for overseeing overall agency operations, personnel, fiscal planning/management, and day-to-day operations.  The Agency is directly responsible to the Traill County Social Service Board which provides fiscal and advisory oversight.
The Board is accountable to the Traill County Commission which provides county jurisdiction and fiscal appropriations.  Additionally, the North Dakota Department of Human Services serves as a regulatory, fiscal, technical assistance, and monitoring agent.

    Personnel:
Traill County Social Services currently employs 24 staff members.  Personnel include social workers, eligibility specialists, in home care specialists, parent aide, and  administrative staff.

    Budget:
The Traill County Social Service 2008 authorized budget is $930,000.  This budget includes the county share of funding for services and some state/federal programs.  It does not include financial benefits paid to clients through various programs such as Food Stamps, Medical Assistance, and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).  The estimated value of Social Service Programming in Traill County annually is $10,000,000.  Therefore, for every $1 of county dollars invested there is over a $10 return to citizens.

    Civil Rights Statement:
Traill County Social Services makes available all services/assistance without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, handicap, political affiliation, age, or marital status and is subject to Title VI of the Civil Rights action of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Action of 1973, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975 as amended and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1991.
