Welcome to Traill County, North Dakota! Organized in 1875, the county of Traill in eastern North Dakota boasts several small communities with exceptional businesses, tourist adventures and cultural history.
With a population of just over 8,100, Traill County is on the grow! With young families, great housing opportunities and first rate educational and health facilities, our communities have something for everyone.
The county seat is Hillsboro, and the largest city is Mayville.

In compliance with Federal Law, the Traill County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) gives notice that the Traill County Local Emergency Operations Plan, which includes the Emergency and Hazardous Chemical Inventory (Tier II) Reports and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s), has been received and reviewed by the Traill County LEPC.
The LEPC has also reviewed the Hazardous Materials Response Plan to prepare for, respond to, and recover from hazardous materials incidents. Appropriate portions of these documents are available for public inspection in accordance with State Law along with the hazardous materials response plan for Traill County at the Traill County Emergency Management Office 118 W Caledonia Ave, Hillsboro between the hours of 8:00a.m. – 4:30p.m. Monday thru Friday. Any requests for viewing this information must be made by appointment by contacting the Traill County Sheriff’s Office at 701-636-4510.

POLLING LOCATIONS SET FOR THE 2024 PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS
Traill County has been a vote-by-mail county since 2008. Your ballot is safe and secure whether voting by mail, in person at the courthouse before election day or in person on election day at the Mayville Armory.

HISTORIC Traill County COURTHOUSE
The cornerstone of the present building was laid on June 20, 1906. The cost of the new building was $60,000.
