Deputy Sheriff

The Traill County Sheriff’s Department is taking applications for open positions as a Deputy Sheriff. Applicants must have a North Dakota Peace Officer’s License or be eligible to be licensed. Single health, dental, and vision plan provided by the county as well as vacation, sick leave and holiday pay. Deputies are on the ND Public Safety Retirement plan. Uniforms and equipment are provided by the county. Salary starts at $49,000 a year (Consideration will be taken for applicants with experience) with a $50.00 raise after successful completion of a six-month probationary period. Dispatcher

The Traill County Sheriff’s Department has an immediate opening for two full-time dispatchers: 40 hours per week, must be able to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Salary depends on experience, but is not required. Training will be provided. Primary duties will include but are not limited to: answering administrative and 911 calls, dispatching emergency responders, and completing required documentation of all activities. Applicants must possess excellent communication and people skills and must be able to multitask and independently deal with multiple situations. Must have good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel would be helpful. All E911 dispatchers will be required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and will be subjected to random drug and alcohol testing. Benefits include Single Blue Cross Blue Shield Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, holiday pay, vacation-and sick leave. County pays 13.26% into North Dakota PERS Retirement (the employee will pay 3%). Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
